The Carbon Footprint Declaration (CFD) is a detailed document grounded in the ISO 14067 standard, designed to transparently present the carbon footprint of a Kalmar product. It serves as a streamlined and concise version of a product’s comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), offering a clear overview of its environmental impact across its lifecycle.
Kalmar has adopted CFD as an alternative to the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) due to the absence of standardized methodologies for conducting EPDs specifically for cargo handling machines. This approach allows Kalmar to provide consistent and credible data on its products' environmental performance.
For the purpose of conducting LCAs and preparing CFDs, Kalmar has selected the most representative models from each major product category. These models include both diesel and electric variants, enabling meaningful comparisons and documentation of potential CO2 emission reductions achieved by transitioning from diesel-powered to electric equipment. This initiative underscores Kalmar’s commitment to advancing sustainability in the cargo handling industry by offering transparent insights into the environmental performance of its products.
